糠平湖の近況ーLatest Status of Lake Nukabiraー

年末まで全面結氷が遅れていた糠平湖ですが、今週末の1月7日（土）に湖上立ち入りが解禁となるようです。

ここ数年で糠平湖の冬の風物詩となったアイスバブルは、湖面に雪が積もったために見られる場所があまり多くありません。風で雪が飛ばされた部分で少しだけ、というところでしょうか。

Have you ever watched ICE BUBBLE? The photo I posted above is just that.

The ICE BUBBLE is air bubbles trapped in frozen ice. In Lake Nukabira, Methane gas boiling from the bottom of the lake is contained in the ice on the surface of the lake.

In the last few years, the Ice Bubble at Lake Nukabira has become very popular. However, there are only a few spots where you can see them as the ice has already been covered with snow this winter.

At Lake Nukabira, you can see the Taushubetsu bridge as well as the ice bubble.

The Taushubetsu bridge is a concrete arch bridge built more than 80 years ago. As it emerges from under ice every winter, the concrete has deteriorated so much that there is no wonder when it will collapse at any moment.
