〈晴れ渡る空、白い雲〉
9年前の今日、2016年2月18日は、雪雲が流れたあとに快晴となった。
冬から春へ。わずかな時間で季節が進んだかのように、雪のあとに広がった青空には、季節が少しゆるみ始めたことを知らせる白い雲がぽかりと浮かんでいて、湖に出る足どりもどこか軽かったのを思い出す。
昼前から湖上を歩き、タウシュベツ川橋梁まで向かった。2月半ばを過ぎると、日射しの強さをひときわ感じさせられる。まだ空気は冷たく、景色は真っ白い雪に覆われているので、つい油断して日焼け止めを忘れてしまい、結構なダメージを受けるのがこの時期だ。
朝晩の冷え込みはまだ強いものの、日中には暖かさ感じる。そんな日に穏やかな天候の中で湖上を歩いてコンクリートアーチ橋見に行くのは、一年を通しても大きなな楽しみのひとつだ。
タウシュベツ川橋梁は全体が氷上に姿を見せ、それが濃い影を雪面に落としていた。
水位によって、年ごとに状況が変わる糠平湖。今年の冬は立ち入り規制が早まり、この時期に橋まで歩くことができないのが残念だ。

Nine years ago today—February 18, 2016—the sky cleared up after a stretch of snow clouds. It felt like winter was giving way to spring, even if just for a moment: the deep-blue sky was dotted with white clouds that hinted at a slight warming trend, and I remember my steps across the lake feeling extra light.
Around midday, I began walking on the frozen lake toward the Taushubetsu Bridge. By mid-February, the sun can feel surprisingly strong. The air remains chilly, and the whole landscape is still covered in bright white snow, so I often forget sunscreen and end up with a not-so-pleasant sunburn at this time of year.
Although mornings and evenings stay cold, you do start to notice a bit of warmth during the day. On days like this, heading out to see the concrete arch bridge under calm conditions is one of my favorite things all year. At this point, the Taushubetsu Bridge was fully visible above the ice, casting a bold shadow on the snowy surface.
Because the lake’s water level changes every season, conditions vary from year to year. This winter, the lake got restricted earlier, so it’s a shame we can’t walk out to the bridge during this period. It’s just another reminder that no two winters look quite the same at Lake Nukabira.
