Twelve years ago today, on March 14, I found myself on Lake Nukabira after sunset, watching the Taushubetsu Bridge. A thin crescent moon was setting in the west, and I was hoping to use its light to photograph the bridge.
There were thin clouds drifting overhead, and when I glanced up, I saw Orion hovering beyond the arch. I quickly took a few shots before the moonlight disappeared completely. Even such a brief moment still lingers in my mind, a mix of fading winter skies and a silent arch.
