〈早朝に五の沢の岸辺から〉
12年前の今朝は、糠平湖の五の沢にいた。遠く対岸には、タウシュベツ川橋梁のシルエットが見えている。
白い平原だった湖上の氷が割れ、あるいは解けたりして、厳寒期には見られなかった光景が広がる。
本格的な観光シーズンはすでに終わっており、こんな時期の糠平湖を訪れる人はほとんどいない。一人湖上でカメラをかまえる朝、その変化を見届ける時間は贅沢なものだった。
Twelve years ago this morning, I was at Gono-sawa on Lake Nukabira. Off in the distance, you could make out the silhouette of the Taushubetsu Bridge. What had been a solid white plain of ice had started cracking and melting, revealing a view you’d never see in the dead of winter.
The main tourist season was already over, so almost nobody visits the lake at this time. Alone o13n the ice with my camera, I got to witness these changes up close. It felt like a luxury to watch the lake gradually transform on a quiet morning like this.
