〈湖底にならぶ切株群とタウシュベツ〉
16年前の今日、2009年4月11日。糠平湖の五の沢から、対岸に見えるタウシュベツ川橋梁を眺めていた。湖底には、文字通り無数の切り株が林立していて、まるで異世界に迷い込んだような雰囲気があったのを覚えている。
しかし、その切株群は後の台風によって流れ込んだ泥に埋まってしまい、湖底の光景は大きく変わった。
Sixteen years ago today, on April 11, 2009, I stood at Gono-sawa on Lake Nukabira, looking across at the Taushubetsu Bridge. At the time, the lakebed was lined with countless stumps, giving it an almost otherworldly vibe.
Later, a typhoon brought in a flood of mud that buried these stumps, dramatically altering the lake’s appearance. It’s striking how the bridge, often said to be “on the brink of collapse,” still stands, while the scenery around it has changed so drastically.
